International Teachers College

International Teachers College

Now in its 23rd year, and with nearly 15,000 students, Universitas Pelita Harapan is one of the leading private Christian universities in Indonesia.  The International Teachers College is the English-language teacher-training program within the larger university.  The mission of the ITC is to equip Christian students for Kingdom service as teachers and leaders in schools in Indonesia and around the world. The Christ-centered curriculum, professors, and residential learning community at the ITC are designed to develop active and reflective Christian educators who are able to teach and lead from a biblical perspective. Students are exposed to different cultures and educational systems, while studying in English, and living in a safe and comfortable environment. The facilities at the ITC are state-of-the-art, and our expatriate and Indonesian professors are all devout Christians, as well as experts in their fields of study.

The ITC’s unique educational partnership with Corban University in Salem, Oregon (USA) allows students to receive not only a bachelor of education (B.Ed.) from Universitas Pelita Harapan, but also an accredited B.Ed from Corban University. Students have the opportunity to choose between programs in primary education or secondary English education. Either degree can be completed in only three years of year-round study (9 semesters).

It is my privilege to recruit talented Christian students who wish to attend the ITC at an affordable cost. The full cost of our three-year program (i.e. tuition, fees, room, board, and uniforms) is only about $8,500 per year, plus transportation and incidental expenses.  However, due to the tremendous commitment of the Pelita Harapan Foundation to Christian education, scholarships are available to qualified students to fully cover the cost of tuition, fees, room, board, books, and uniforms. Scholarship students and their families are only responsible for travel and other incidental expenses (as well as immigration expenses for students who are not Indonesian citizens). By accepting scholarships, recipients commit to a period of four years of paid reciprocal service as Christian schoolteachers at a school in Indonesia to which our Foundation assigns them following the completion of their B.Ed. degrees.

You can find more information about the ITC and an online application on our website. I will also attach a brochure that contains much of the information on the website.
